Students all over the world are using money for clothes, food, and accessories. According to Businessinsider.com stundents spend 40% of their money for new clothes for their wardrobe, Nike is the most favorable brand for students, 21% of a student’s money is going to clothes followed by food with 20% of a student’s money, most of student’s money is coming from their parents, Apple is still the most favorable electronics brand for teens, 67% of the students own iPhone and 73% say that their next phone is an iPhone, and their favorite website for shopping is Amazon, Nike, then eBay. I will admit that I am a student that will spend as much money affordable on something I really want.
According to the poll that was held for 8th grade about how money is being used, its shows that here at AIS-R, 70% of the parents do not care about the money that their kids are spending, they are not monitoring the food choices of their kids. The student’s spending in the school is 40% subway, which is the most bought food in the school, subway is considered the most costing from 4-27 SAR that is considered a big amount of money in comparison to other food choices. 60% of the students are going to buy a yearbook, and it will cost from 200-250SAR, so more students are not caring about the money. Just about 50% of the students at AIS-R are buying brand clothing, which means students are wasting 90+SAR just to fit in school, and the other 50% doesn’t care about fashion, and some of them are smart enough to think about not wasting their money on more clothes.
Bader Al-Sudeary, a student in AISR attending 8th grade that doesn’t spend a lot of money on games, was interviewed with a couple of questions about how students are wasting their money, and according to him he does not use much money. He was asked about students buying more clothes than they need and he states: “I personally think it is a waste of money, since parents are very conservative with money, and don't like spending too much”. He was also asked about what he thought about how much money is spent per week which is between 200 and 300 and he answered saying.“Not very surprising, I would actually expect them to spend more”, he was also asked about how he thinks about how every student only gets his money from parents and not work for it saying,“I don't use much money, all of it is from my parents, and I think that is because we are the lazy generation”.
Farris Al-Qalam, a student in 8th grade in AIS-R that uses real money to buy virtual money for games , was interviewed with the same questions about how students are wasting their money, and according to him he uses money all the time, everywhere. He was asked about students buying more clothes than they need and he says,” I myself buy more clothes than I need, but I think that sometimes it can be an advantage, because the more clothes you have the more options you can wear.” . Farris Al-Qalam was also asked about how much money students are spending per week which is between 200 and 300 and he replied saying, “I think that is normal, because the least I spend a week is 350 SAR, any normal student would spend more.”. Also he was asked about how he thinks about how every student are only getting money from their parents and not work for it and he said, “I always get money from my parents, I never feel like working, it’s too tiring to work or do chores for my own money.”
Parents are working for the money. The students need to spend money wisely and get what they need and not what they want. Parents are earning their money for their family’s food, rent, and education for the family. Students should earn their own money, at least by doing chores around the house or neighborhood. Unless the student’s parents are rich, then he/she could buy whatever they wanted.
